A karting prospect from Bedford, who boasts beating a lap time of Formula One star, Yuki Tsunoda is now on the lookout for support from local business as he looks to expand on a promising career behind the wheel.

Jayden Lyford, 16, primarily competes in the British Indoor Karting Championship (BIKC) and won the Regional Final last season in the Junior category and has also qualified for this season’s local final on 11th September.

He will be hoping for more luck in 2024 as he was involved in a collision in the first corner of the BIKC National Final last year, after winning the local and regional stages.

In addition to BIKC success, the youngster also drives in endurance events, including the Daytona MK 24-hour race in which Lyford beat the lap time of Japanese F1 star, Yuki Tsunoda, who drives for the Visa Cash App RB Racing Formula One team.

The Visa Cash App RB Racing team – formerly known as Alpha Tauri – are a subsidiary of Red Bull Racing fronted by Christian Horner, based in Milton Keynes.

With success at the Buckmore, Red Lodge and Thruxton six-hour events as well, opportunity has come knocking for Lyford who has been offered a chance to step up to car racing with Hyper Motorsport, as well as a chance with his current team, TRX Motorsport.

As is always the case with any type of motorsport however, with ambition and talent comes a hefty price tag.

Lyford is now on the lookout for sponsorship from businesses near and far in order to compete at the C1 Endurance Championships as part of the British Racing & Sports Car Club (BRSCC) series.
