Applications are now open for traders, caterers and charities who want to be part of the Bedford River Festival when it returns in 2026.
Bedford Borough Council’s Events team is inviting applications ahead of the next festival, which will take place on Saturday, 18 July and Sunday, 19 July 2026.
Record crowds expected
Following the record-breaking success of the 2024 River Festival, which attracted more than 300,000 visitors, the free two-day event is expected to draw large crowds once again to the Embankment and surrounding areas.
The council says the 2026 festival will build on that success with live entertainment, river events, sports, arts, cultural activities and family attractions spread across the 105-acre site, offering a major platform for businesses and charities across the weekend.
How to apply for a pitch
Applications are now open for commercial traders, caterers, and charities, and will remain open until all pitches are filled or until the deadline of Friday, 5 June 2026, whichever comes first.
The council has stressed that applying does not guarantee a place. Each application will be assessed to ensure a balanced mix of:
- commercial trade
- promotional stalls
- charities
- catering
Bar and ice cream concessions for the 2026 event have already been allocated through a separate tender process.
