Bedford Thunder continued their perfect record in the world of basketball, dominating proceedings in a 115-69 away victory over Oakland Wolves in Pool 3 of the NBL Conference League.
In a spectacular away performance, Bedford Thunder delivered a commanding performance, showcasing both offensive firepower and solid team defence at Oaklands College in St Albans.
The team were led by an impressive shooting display from their sharpshooter, Number 7, Bartosz Przbylowski, who finished the game with 21 points.
From the tip-off, Bedford controlled the tempo, with the team setting the tone early.
Precision from beyond the arc and ability to drive to the basket helped the team build an early lead that Oaklands struggled to counter. By half time, the Thunder had already established a commanding 23 point advantage.
While Przbylowski was the standout scorer, the teams success was also built on a balanced team effort.
Strong contributions came from all areas of the court, with most players contributing to maintain the large margin. Oaklands were unable to find their rhythm, with Bedford’s defence stifling any attempt to mount a serious comeback.
After this victory, Thunder remain undefeated in the National Basketball League Conference and their next test will be away against a strong Anglia Ruskin University side next weekend (16 November).
Hoopers return to action next week
Bedford Hoopers are also in Pool 3 of the NBL Conference and had a week off after Kent Panthers have withdrawn, but they return to action next week as they host Northamptonshire Titans Under-21s at Cranfield University.
The Thunder and the Hoopers have already played in one local derby this season; the Thunder prevailing 89-68 in the National Cup, which was also first game of the season back in September. The Thunder were knocked out in the next round by Cambridge Cats.
The Thunder and the Hoopers’ first league meeting takes place at Bedford Academy on 7 December.
The Hoopers sit in sixth after their sole victory, also against Oakland.
Anglia Ruskin University sit top of the standings with four wins from four, ahead of Stevenage Royals on points difference, while the Thunder sit in third with a game in hand.
