Families with children due to start primary, lower and middle schools in September 2025 have been encouraged to start applying for places right away in order to give them the best chance of getting a place at their preferred choice.

Bedford Borough Council’s online admissions system opened in September to all parents and carers who live within the Borough and the deadline is fast approaching.

The application portal can be found here.

Families have been given a deadline of 15 January 2025 in order to give their child the best chance of gaining their preferred spot.

Parents and carers with a child born between 1 September 2020 and 31 August 2021 who will be starting school in September 2025 should be applying to their chosen primary school.

Parents and carers with a child in Year 4 at a lower school and who will be transferring to middle school in September 2025 should also apply by 15 January.

Bedford Borough Council will consider any application received after the deadline as ‘late’ and they say it, “may significantly reduce the chances of securing a place at a preferred school.”

“Applying for a school place is a quick and simple process that can be done online in just a few minutes”, said Councillor Jane Walker (Conservative, Clapham & Oakley), Portfolio Holder for Valuing Families and Children’s Services.

“We urge parents and carers to submit their applications by the deadline of 15 January. Missing this date could significantly reduce your child’s chances of being offered a place at one of your preferred schools.”
