Bedfordshire Police have confirmed a stabbing has taken place at the Goldington Square shopping area on Church Lane this afternoon.
They were called to the incident shortly after 4.10pm. The victim has been taken to hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries.
Officers remain in the area carrying out enquiries and anyone who was in or around the area at the time, or has any information, is asked to please report it to them.

Goldington Square is known for anti-social behaviour and a sign near to the stabbing says Bedfordshire Police have been carrying out activities to tackle anti-social behaviour and crime in the area.

Bedfordshire Police are currently on the scene of an incident on Church Lane, Bedford with a cordon around a large part of the shopping parade.
We are awaiting updates as to what is happening but local people have been asked to avoid the area.
