The national first aid charity St John Ambulance is seeking young adult volunteers to become youth leaders at their new Cadet Unit in Bedford.
The new unit will open on St John’s Street in Bedford at the end of April, giving young people across North Bedfordshire an opportunity to learn first aid, build confidence and develop leadership skills.
Thanks to a high demand for cadet places, with a large number of young people on a waiting list, the new unit is needed more than ever.
To help ensure the new unit can provide high‑quality support, the charity is now seeking motivated adult volunteers to join the local team as youth leaders.
Working with young people aged 10–17, the youth leaders will help run weekly meetings, support skill‑building activities, and guide Cadets in developing first aid knowledge, teamwork and personal resilience.
Volunteers receive full training and ongoing support from St John Ambulance.

The new unit will run on Tuesday evenings at the Bedford HQ at 34 St Johns Street in the town centre.
