Three firearms and several kilograms of Class A were seized in Bedford last week, as part of proactive efforts to tackle serious and organised crime in the county.
Officers stopped and searched a vehicle in a Bedford car park in the early hours of Wednesday morning (23 July), discovering suspected Class A drugs.
The subsequent search of a property linked to the vehicle resulted in the recovery of three viable firearms and further drugs.
A man in his 20s has now been charged with possession of a prohibited firearm, two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and possession of criminal property.
More than 12 kilograms of suspected Class A drugs were also seized in other policing operations in the last week.
Three men have been charged with drugs offences as a result of these seizures.
Detective Chief Superintendent Duncan Young said: “These results show the impact of our ongoing efforts to disrupt those bringing weapons, drugs and harm into our communities.
