Council officers are on the lookout for a missing boat captain after an abandoned vessel ended up on the side of a Bedford Borough country road.
This rather misplaced vessel, named Bacchus, has been discovered abandoned by the side of Odell Road on the outskirts of Sharnbrook and is being treated as fly-tipping.

Painted white with burgundy trim and clearly more at home on water than on the roadside verge, the boat is in a state of disrepair. Its identification code, normally a 12 to 14-digit number, is only partly visible and appears to include the letters OS and either 11 or II.
If you know who might have sailed Bacchus to its unlikely resting place, the council would like to hear from you. You can report information online at the Council’s website or contact Bedfordshire Police on 101.
